It is the summer of 1942, just a few month's before
on
December 7, 1941. America is forced into World
War II
by a sneak attack from Japan. A 38 year old man
with
a wife and seven (7) children at home on the farm,
grabs
his rifle, gets his mule, for he doesn't own a
car, and
rides five miles to North Manchester to the nearest
induction center.
He talks to the man in charge and tells him I have
my
gun and my transportation, just point me in the
right
direction I want to fight them Japs. They would
not let
him join the service, although he had the same
great love
for his country as so many other men of that time.
Just
a simple man who was willing to risk every thing
he held
dear to fight, and maybe die, for the land he loved.
He was a Grand Man then and a Grand Man now!
